QUESTION FOR WOMEN: If you carried a baby for nine months and was admitted to the hospital to give birth to your bundle of joy but receives news that they died, what will you do? Will you still trust God or will you question and curse him? I know. Those are some difficult questions. Why? Because although we know there is a God and we confess love for him, there are times we feel like he is not there and start to question him. Especially in a time like the question posed, mothers don’t find reasoning in anything. But do you know God is good even in that circumstance and that your testimony is not for you but for others? Sounds strange and unthinkable, I know.
Yesterday’s service in church was just a time of rejoicing because more souls were being added to the Kingdom of God. The initial worship leader was a young man who gave his all in the worship. He was rejoicing and praising God with no restrictions. I am sure many people would have admired him, especially because he is a young man and men are a deficiency in the church. Little did we all know what he was going through. After the service, we went to beach where we had a beautiful baptism and in heading back my mom started conversing with him. The conversation continued with us and I was given the most shocking news in a long while. This over joyed young man was in recovery mode from loosing his baby who was stillborn. “How could he possibly be so happy? Isn’t he feeling pain? Those were the questions going through my mind; questions which I could not ask him. What made it even more interesting, was the circumstance around the death of the baby. Poor negligence by the Medical Staff and so the matter was being handled in court. To me that would make things more strenuous because it would now have to be lamented on in court and thoroughly investigated until the final verdict is given. It didn’t end there but got worst, when they realize that malpractice was done and so in doing the cesarean, they took out one of his wife’s ovary. Yet still this young man and his wife were carrying on the work of God.
In this random “meeting”, it was revealed to me that God is good at all times, even in bad circumstances. This young man knew that his family test would yield a testimony not for him but for others. He said, he wanted to ask God why but then said boldly “God you know why”. He then explained to me that people love to praise God because praising is celebrating him for all that they have but when it comes to praising in lacking, it’s difficult. He was still hurting and so was his wife but he they were and are able to use verses like 2 Corinthians 12:9 – And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. and Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”.
What about the baby story? Sometimes we feel like we are carrying the world around and there is no way of escape. We can’t begin to fathom the elements around us. What is going on? Lord where are you? I can’t take this no more. Have you forgotten me? The answer is NO. God has not forgotten you. Sometimes situations that seems incomprehensible to us is God’s way of saying ‘I am saving you from the end product”. Remember that God knows best and he loves us with an unconditional love. Therefore as a mother who can see danger ahead, God sees years before us and will protect us. Although in times of pain we can’t see that or get our minds to think that way, it is so. Also God revealed something to me surrounding this verse. 1 Corinthians 10:13 – There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Revelation: If God said he will not give us more than we can bear, then the fact that we are in the situation means God knows we can handle it. We always see our strength lower than God sees it. As the bible says, he will make a way of escape but that’s if we put our trust in him and allow him to have full control over the situation.
He says in Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. So mommy, maybe you would have lost your baby and can’t seem to find strength in anything or anyone, I can assure that God understands and he will comfort your heart. Maybe you know someone with the baby story, let them know that God loves them despite the fact of this unfortunate moment occurring in their lives. For you, who are not going through this but something else that you deem to be tragic, know that God loves you and he will show you why eventually. The bible says “In all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.” The road is rocky but be rest assured that God is there with you. Step back and feel his presence and allow his love to embrace your broken heart.
