Pillow Talk: Faith

He revealed the Father as being under no law but as law itself and the cause of the laws we know, the cause of all harmony because he himself is the harmony.  Men had to be delivered not only from the fear of suffering and death but from the fear which is a kind of worship of nature. Nature herself must be shown to be subject to the Father and to him whom the Father had sent (Jesus). Men must believe in the great works of the Father through the little works of the Son; all that he showed was little to what God was doing. They had to be helped to see that it was God who did such things as often as they were done. He it is who causes the corn to grow for man. He gives every fish that a man eats. Even if things are terrible, yet they are God’s and the Lord will still the storm because of their faith in him – tame a storm, as a man might tame a wild beast, for his Father measures the waters in the hollow of his hand and men are miserable not to know it. For Jesus himself, his faith is enough. He sleeps on his pillow and does not even dream of perishing. – George McDonald.

How many of us can be in the middle of a storm and be still? The natural humanistic response would be panic, racing hearts, conclusions that death is looking at you in the eye, etc. You know it. In case you are not clear on what I speak of, please note that it’s life issues and not a literal storm. We worry so much, that we forget God is able to calm the storm or permanently stop it. Mustard seed faith can move mountains or put things into its rightful place. Luke 17:6 – So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you. You have to trust God even when you can’t trace him. Worrying about the problem will not fix it but if you praise in the midst of the haze you will confuse the enemy and get your victory. Short on faith? Work on building it by reading the word and letting it live in your heart. So when trials comes, you can speak the word and command the storm to stop. There is POWER in the word when you believe it. There is power in FAITH.
