Daily Digest: Why Worry?

As a child, growing up in what was called an “old Independent Baptist” Church, there were certain hymns and songs I became saturated with, while simultaneously falling in love with them. One such song is “Why Worry”.

The songs says “Why worry, when you can pray. Trust Jesus in every way. Don’t be like doubting Thomas, rely upon a promise. Why worry, worry, worry, worry, when you can pray?”

Oh those words, breathes peace over my heart. Sometimes we let the things we see or hear incarcerate us. Sometimes we forget how big our God is and give great magnitude to our problems. Sometimes we murmur and complain, wasting energies that could have been used for prayer. All because we become anxious. It doesn’t look like it (the solution or answer), so God where are you? He is right there. Take time to pray. There is another song that says “Praying brings a relief”. I believe that with all my heart because I have experienced it before. It’s rather sad that at times we must see to believe. Sometimes we get hope when we see part of the final product being produced because we know God is a God of completion. What about believing even when it things look insipid? John 20:29 says (in a nutshell) – Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.

When it comes to circumstances instead of worrying, PRAY. Phillipians 4:6 – 7, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Those verses could not be more transparent. Why are you worrying? And I am reminded to ask myself that when applicable. There is  nothing impossible with God. Just PRAY, WORSHIP, WAIT and all things will work out for your good, according to his plans for your life.
