Php.3.12-14.kjv – Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Paul says that his goal is to know Christ, to be like Christ, and to be all Christ has in mind for him. This goal absorbs all of Paul’s energy. This is a helpful example for us. We should not let anything take our eyes off our goal-knowing Christ. With the single-mindedness of an athlete in training, we must lay aside everything harmful and forsake anything that may distract us from being effective Christians. What is holding you back?
Lord I bless your name and say thank you for yet an other day. Holy Spirit you are welcome into my heart afresh today. I pray for your guidance and protection. I pray against anything that would be a distraction to me spending time with God or from being who God has call me to be. I pray for an unchanging and Neverending zeal to know and be like you in Jesus name. Amen.
