Daily Digest: Trust

What is trust? Though there is a formal definition, I would say trust is believing in something that can sometimes be unknown. Why do I say unknown? Let’s look at trusting in God for example.

The word of God says :

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. – Proverbs 3:5‭-‬6 NKJV
Sometimes however, we have to trust blindly. This I know all too well. Presently I am faced with a situation where all I can do is trust God to bring a solution. However, the situation has no view. You know the little things we would love to see just to make an assessment? THERE IS NONE! I am literally learning to trust the unknown. Knowing that God will not stare me in the wrong direction. This trust test is sometimes difficult because I would like a little info. God,  can I have a little peak? In such a time he would not even say no. There is total silence as he teaches my heart to depend on him. My mom always said “trust him where you can’t trace him” and oh boy I can’t trace him.

If this is you, don’t give up. For through it all he still deserves worship and praise. Remember he is an all sovereign God and his plans are NEVER to hurt us. So trust him, even when you can’t trace him. He will make a way for you.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord , thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. –Jeremiah 29:11 KJV

How I Was Made

Hello wordpress family? Hope you all have been doing great. Its been a while since I came to this place where I find freedom in self-expression. I guess you can say, it was another hiatus for another major lesson or learning of lessonS in my life.

If some of you may recall, in times past I wrote about overcoming certain challenges. One of which I did say was thoroughly dealt with, only to realize I was at it again. This was the struggle of self image. As for anyone going through a process, I was faced with  “cursing” those demons at random occasions. For a while, all things went well and then it reared its heads again. It wasn’t something I battled with often as until recently. For some weird reason, a lot of the things I thought was dead was brought back to life. For which I take responsibility because that could have only happened if they were fed.

However, I thank God for his word. The word which always and I mean always comes to my (or anyone else in need) aid. As I walked through the busy wet streets of our nations capital, I began to speak to myself (internally that is). My thoughts made me chuckle a bit. You see, I realized that my torment came because of the image I had in my head. For some it may be strange but I am quite sure there will be those who understand. Let me explain.

I am 6″1′ and as was recently described, of an athletic built. My body is more on the lean side but in my head I wanted some thickness but not too much. So I saw my body as “slick”. That’s slim and thick….lol. That however proved to be utter madness because when I looked in the mirror I didn’t see what I had in my head. 😂😂 I just have to laugh but it’s not funny at all.

This kind of thing in the life of a Christian person is no laughing matter. This is exactly what the enemy wants and how he wins in the war of the mind. The word of God says that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Everything God made was good and that includes me. I was and I AM good. With my mind on these frivolous matters, how could I have an effective prayer life (emphasis added) or life in general. Yes I prayed, read and communed with God and saw his hand at work in my life. But the true effectiveness ( higher level) of the Christian walk as well as freely progressing in life, could not  have been experienced in a mind that is not sound. A mind that is totally against God’s word. For his word said he gave me a SOUND MIND. My mind however was not sound and that kind of mind keeps one stagnated.

As I made my way back to my place of work, I began to smile because there and then, as I saw my reflection in one of the glass buildings, I said ” This is who I am. This is how I was made. Therefore I will take care of THIS (tall, strong athletic) temple”. It felt good to know that I knew who I was. Or rather to reaffirm it.

There can only be one me and I must fully endorse who I am and who God created me to be. Don’t turn a blind eye to your unique beauty snd strength. Tap into it and walk out in your authentic being. Let the mind of Christ be in you and face the world with confidence, for “faith is confidence” – Joyce Meyer

Daily Digest: Drawing Closer

How can you draw near to God? The Bible makes it clear that your own body is God’s temple. Your spirit needs and wants closeness to God. You want to know the living God personally, not as an idea or concept, not as a distant monarch. You can draw near to God through prayer, worship, and Bible meditation. You need not live like a monk, but you probably need more prayer in your life (we all do).

The habit of worship has become a convenience to be wedged between sports, and other recreations. Instead, make worship your top priority (I am striving too). Bible meditation may include verse memory, songs, and quiet personal reading. The Bible is the Word of God for you. Use it every day and you will draw nearer to God.

For the Law never made anything perfect–but instead a better hope is introduced through which we [now] come close to God.

Pillow Talk: It Starts With Me Being a Friend First

This is something I have struggled with  a lot, due to repeated hurt from all facets of relationships. However I am trusting God to totally heal me as I start over on bonding with people – God’s people. What about you? Are you willing to set yourself aside and show love even to those who hurt you badly?

Enjoy this post.

It Starts With Me Being A Friend First

Too often people complain or tweet about not having friends or community in their life —if only they knew that the solution lies within them! Just as Jesus initiated a relationship between Himself and humanity, sometimes we must be the instigators and initiators of friendships so that we can enjoy the fullness of community that God intends for us. Why not create quality community for yourself by being a friend first!

Jesus didn’t wait for us to approach Him; He made the first move. Romans 5:8 says, “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” We did not ask for Jesus, nor did we do anything to deserve Jesus, but yet He still came to us.

Rather than wait for others to acknowledge us, look in our direction, or invite us to sit with them, as Christians we should imitate Jesus and go first in friendships. Make the first move: make eye contact, be the first to smile, have a good attitude, and introduce yourself! While your friendliness won’t always be reciprocated, most of the time it will be received and returned in your direction. The more you do this, the more confident you will become and the more you will recognize community happening in and around your life.

• Go first today and extend your friendship to a stranger at school, or to someone you have known for years (but have never been friends with).
• In your journal, make a list of names that represent the community you have in your life right at this moment. Make a second list of names of the people who you want to invest more of your time and energy on in the future.

– It Starts With Me

I could not have given this post a title  other than the one used because I want people from near and far to have  a read and share this moment with me. This morning my Daily Digest was about answers in our lives going beyond prayer. See here: Daily Digest: Beyond Prayer. In it, I explained that I was instructed by God to make some things right, which I began working on immediately. Little did I know, that he was going to do what he did today. As I type, my heart is still racing and the tears have already fallen in thanksgiving.

The company I work for at present, have been going through some financial issues as of lately, due to clients tardiness concerning our outstanding funds. Due to this we were operating through the bank and did overrun our accounts to a point where the bank manager said NO MORE. I was not at work yesterday and so upon reaching today and conversing with my boss, I heard and saw how forlorn he was about us not having moneys to cover salaries for this fortnight. I did not say much because silence is better in times like these. However, I heard in my heart to contact the bank manager. The same person who said a vehement NO MORE to us and so I did. I am sure you can tell where this story ended. She FACILITATED us and our employees would be able to get their salary. I am so excited to inform my boss, since he had no idea I was going to do this.

This morning was unlike any other because I did something I haven’t done in a while and that was spend quality time with God not asking for anything more than his righteousness and listening when he spoke. After I got that heart-warming email from the bank manager, again I heard in my heart, “The reward of spending time with me”  followed by the verse Matthew 6:33 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

The rewards won’t always be materialistically but all the same, we would be rewarded when we seek Gods righteousness. I didn’t just pray but “made things right” as God asked me to and “Wala” , he opened a door that everyone, including myself knew to be closed. Be encouraged and do the same. I am sure you will have so many praise reports to share at the end of it all. This is simply amazing. Bless the Lord.

When Self Gets In The Way

It is important that we make God the leader and director of our lives. With him all shall go well, even in the times of turmoil. The massacre comes when self gets in the way. So many times, we act and say God says only to realize that it was us all along. The urge of our humanistic traits causes us to believe that when we can solve problems on our own, we are powerful and POWER is something that everyone fights for. Even if it’s subliminally. Self in the way is death in the way. Proverbs 14:12 reassure us of such –  “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death”.

I believe the greatest Christian lie of all is when we say “sin is no fun”. Something  that is not fun will never captivate thousands of people. Sin is fun but fun that last but for a moment while simultaneously leading you to the slaughter. We have a choice of either death or life which is either being directed by God or self consecutively. However, it is very important that we know the repercussions of both  choices. My flesh got in the way many times and wind me up head over heels in hot water. Thankfully I am still alive to share it with you. This may not happen again, neither may it be your fate. This blog is just to serve as reminder that the wages of sin (self) is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus – Romans 6:23
