Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda – True Story

Do you know about three minutes ago, myself along with another young man, could have been our country’s latest road fatalities? The title which was written in our local language called dialect (Trinidad and Tobago), describes it all. I could have been, I should have been, I would have been BUT GOD.

After losing one of my students a couple of years ago due to the breaking of a red traffic light, by an irresponsible driver, it has become a part of me to look left and right before crossing even after the light would have turned red. For me, a red light is more than, “you can cross now” but rather it means proceed with caution, due to the formerly mentioned issue, along with my very own experience before. However, there was something more frightening about this afternoon. A short while after the light turned red, the three pedestrians, inclusive of myself, began crossing and we did so with ease because all the cars stopped, or so we thought. As I made my way to the center lane, I heard this loud rumble quickly approaching my right ear. It was the sound of a Wingroad engine coming with full speed. Thank God my legs stopped before my heart did and so did the young man’s. When the driver realized what was going on, he had to mash a sudden harsh brakes, which could have had repercussions also. A sliding car, a flipping car, losing control of the vehicle, all of this was possible and could have happened in the twinkling of an eye. The other pedestrian, who happens to be an elderly lady said “Oh my God! This woulda be a terrible accident here yuh know”. The only thing that came from me was Thank you Jesus and a smile. It’s like my brain was not functioning to think of anything else. That was the most blank feeling ever.

Now that I am safely home and thinking, I ask myself the questions, “What if you did die? Where would you have spent eternity”? With all my heart I believe heaven and I thank God for that. That I know, that I know , where my eternity lies. How about you? Do you know where your eternity lies? Life is such a mystery, you can actually be here today and gone today. Ah! I know you were thinking tomorrow but NO, it can all happen in a day. ONE DAY is all it takes to say HI and GOOD-BYE. I thank God for keeping me and I pray that I live daily to do his will so that if and when that time comes, I would be ready to meet my King.  I pray you, please be ready. Now is the acceptable time. RIGHT NOW. You don’t know what later today or tomorrow brings. Hebrews 3:15 says – As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”

If you don’t know Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, I am presenting this opportunity to you, to do so. Simply pray the prayer below and believe that you received him and it is done. After this, you can find a local church that is Jesus based and go fellowship with Gods people.

Father, I confess that I am a sinner and I have made mistakes in my life but you said if I confess my sins, you will forgive me from all unrighteousness. So I confess my sins before you and ask for your forgiveness. Wash me and make me clean today. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and will follow him from this day forward in Jesus name. Amen.

Welcome into the family of God. God bless you richly my brother/sister.
